GAR'S GREAT GAME + DOC'S DOUBLE

Gar's best tackle was in 75th min, when a Stedfast forward, through on goal and about to shoot, Gar made a last ditch sliding tackle, winning the ball and clearing his lines.
DOC's Double; a 30 yard free into top right corner & a soaring header.
Stedfast 2 v 2 D3
Gar the player /manager had a great game against a Stedfast side, who had they won, would have gone top of the division.
Stedfast started the better and had the lions share of possession in the first half. Stedfast were winning more of the ball in midfield , which put a lot pressure on the defence. D3 defence held strong, lead by Gar, putting in well time tackles.
Things didn't look good when after 15 mins Robbie had to go off injured with a groin strain. His replacement DOB didn't put a foot wrong in the whole game. He went to make sure nobody scored from his side and that's exactly what he did. Ten minutes later Vinny went off injured with an ankle injury, being replaced by Alex, who also had a good game.
On the 20th minute, with D3 playing a high line, 2 Stedfast players were 5 yards offside but the ref. let the game go on. They broke away and gave Jez no chance.
Dollymount never gave up, even if they were a bit ragged. In the 30th minute DOC took a free kick from 25 yards and put it in the top right corner. The keeper got a hand to the ball but could not stop it.
Stedfast spent most of the last 15mins in Dollymount's half but Gar's defence kept them out. Jez making some very good saves. The two full backs, Dave OB & Alex, held up Stedfast's wing play. Paddy & Gar stopped most of the centre play with fine tackles and good reading of the game. Tom & Baz got very little service, so it's hard to comment on them. D3 made to 1/2 time 1-1.
The 2nd half was a different story, D3 were much more organised and dominated nearly the whole half. The 4 midfielders (DOC, Ronan, Al and Kinger) took control of the game. Ronan & DOC started winning most of the ball in the centre, even when Stedfast added another midfielder. Al & Kinger made some very good runs down the lines and put in some good crosses.
Shane was brought on for Tom on the 60th minute. Shane went to left mid and Mark went up front.
65th min D3 won a corner on the right, Al hit a high in swinger into the near post where DOC rose high and in front of the defence to power his header past the keeper. Going 2-1 up was nothing more than D3 deserved and could have had a lot more goals, with shots from Baz, Al, Kinger and Ronan all bringing off saves from their keeper.
Stedfast didn't give up either, in the 70th minute, Alex was chasing back after the ball under pressure from a Stedfast forward and seemed to have everything under control but just as he was about to kick into touch, he slipped and the no. 13 turned and lobbed Jez, leaving him stranded. A few minutes later a Stedfast forward broke through and he would have been straight on goal but for a great sliding tackle by Gar when it look like he had no chance of stopping the forward.
Dollymount went for the win and won more corners and had more shots on target but could not find another goal.
It ended 2-2 which was probably a fair result since it was a game of 2 HALVES.

Allenton 4 v 5 Dollymount 3rds A.E.T.

D3 scrape through to the next round of the SYDNEY BEDLOW CUP.
The game started well with a lot of pressure on the home goal.
1o mins Shane found himself free & nut-megged the from 20 yards out .
10 1/2 mins Allenton tipped off, passed the ball back to centre half who missed the ball, Baz ran on to it and slotted the ball passed the keeper.
D3 should have gone on to win by a hat full, but tried to play the long instead of the passing game they can be so good at. Alan was chasing after lost causes and actually caught a few.
35 mins Allenton right winger broke down our left and crossed, the ball was met on the volley which gave James no chance.
40 mins From an Allenton kick out, DOC headed the ball back into their half where Baz flicked on and Cano got on to it. ran into the box and left footed the ball across the keeper hitting the inside of the right post and in.
There was a two footed tackle on Al, which annoyed him and then in the 43 min. Alan swore and the ref awarded a free on the 1/2 way line. The ball floated into the box and a free header, goal. 2-3 half time.
53 mins a 30yd shot another goal 3 all.
65 min. Kinger got fouled on the right edge of the box, close to the wide line. Al's hits the over the keeper to the back post where J leaps above everyone to head home, back in the lead.
75th minute all square and under pressure. It got to much for Baz who got sent of with 10 minutes remaining for cursing at the Ref (Who by the way had a good game). D3 held on till full time. During the 2nd half Shane & Vinny where taken off, both with muscle problems. Robbie went to left full, Aido to centre half, & DOC took centre midfield role.
D3 were pinned back for the first half of extra time, but held out.
1/2 time E.T. Steve came on for Tom. D3 started to play in Allenton's half. This put pressure on their defence and goal. 5 minutes left, the ball gets kicked forward. Steve using his new found speed got to the ball first, holding of 3 defenders he laid the ball back to DOC, who crossed first time into the box where Kinger rose above the keeper to flick the ball into the top right hand corner. D3 Held out this time to progress to the 2nd round where they will have to be more disciplined if they are to make an impact in this cup.

Dolly3rd 4 v 3 Rumm

Two each for FREENEY & KINGER.
GREAT WIN to beat a battling Rumm

D3 showed great spirit and skill in horrendous weather conditions. With the wind in D3's favour in the first half the players knew they had to be leading at half time and so it was that D3 put continuous pressure on the Rumm goal. D3 have started the league badly and Rumm where 3rd in league but would have not known.
Kingers 1st. goal came from severe in swinging corner from the right into the far top corner with the keeper getting a hand to the ball but unable to stop it. That got D3 on the way, but found it hard to get another which they felt they deserved. Then Freeney to the fore and struck a sweet shot into the bottom right corner. The last kick of the half.
Rumm scored within a minute of kick-off and the pressure on D3 again, but again Freeney popped up at the back post to nod home from close range, after a very good build up which included at least 10 passes back forward and across the field.
The eleven players worked their butts off to get more goals which they should have with some lovely approach work.
Then a couple of slight slip ups and Rumm were right back in it, 3-3.
65 mins Tom came on DOB and went left mid. with Gar going to left full.
D3 did not crumble instead they fought harder for the win and some lovely football. The front line of Baz & Freeney never gave their defence a rest. The midfield made some darting runs, with Al going close a couple of times. Ronan, Tom and Kinger could have also scored. With 8 minutes remaining Kinger came through again to score the winner.
D3 defence, of DOC ,J , Vinny, DOB, andGar who had played with great determination throughout the game, helped from the non-stop running of midfield & forwards, weathered the storm of rain and Rumm to come away with a deserved win.

D.3 3 v 4 Rialto a.e.t.

D.3 GREAT COME BACK TO GET TO EXTRA TIME.

Even do D.3 didn't want to progress to the next round, you wouldn't have known by the performance they put on in the 2nd half. D.3 had a very bad start by letting a Rialto midfielder get a free header from a corner in the 1st couple of minutes. Rialto started a lot better than D.3 but after 10-15 mins Dollymount did get into the game. D.3 played some nice football and made 3 or 4 really good chances but bad finishing. Another free header from a corner and an offside, put Rialto 3-0 at 1/2 time.

1/2 time substitutions, saw Peter Comerford go to centre midfield & Shane go to the left midfield. They came on for Dave O'B (DOB) & Alex and Ronan went to Right Full.

Dolly 3 started, after the interval, with a great purpose to get back into the game and could have scored within 15 seconds, with a very good passing move involving Al, Baz and Freeney.

Mid-way through the 1/2 after continuous pressure on the Rialto goal, Barry Meehan (Baz) finally got the goal that D.3 deserved by coolly slotting pass the keeper. Hopefully Baz will go on a goal spree, now that he's got his first goal.

Another Substitution, Gar coming on for Ronan ( who had played 2 positions C-Mid & L-Back) Gar went up front to help the attack.

Dolly 3. went to 3 central defenders, with DOC centre, Vinny right and Jason left. After a few complaints, the midfield of Al, Shane, Peter and Kinger worked their socks off to make the change in formation work and it did. The 3 forwards of Gar, Freeney and Baz made their defence suffer with their movement, on and off the ball.

Soon after, Freeney scored a wonder goal from 25 yards curling a right footed shot into the top right corner giving the keeper no chance. This was Darren's 3rd goal of the season but it should have been is 3rd of the game. When he gets his scoring boots on, the team will be hard to stop.

With 5 minutes remaining Alan McLoughlin received the ball far out left, he turned his marker and left him for dead with his first touch. He then moved in field a few yards and reminiscent of Freeney's just a while before, curled the ball into the same top corner, only this time he was 30 yards out.

Rialto got another simple header early on in extra time. D.3 did have their chances to equalise again and the lads work very hard and never gave up. But with cramped muscles and tiredness it was just beyond them.

Jez, who had a very good game in goal, making some good saves during the match, went up for the last corner of the game and just missed getting on the end of Kinger's cross. That was the last chance to go to penalties.

BAD OPENING DAY
D3 were beaten 6-0 by new boys Boco rovers.
At 1-0 at half time it seemed like D3 might get back into
the game, but that certainly wasn't the case.
D3 had numerous chances but shot weakly or well wide.
It was only with 15 mins remaining that D3 started passing the ball
and it made the end of the game a bit easier to watch.
Take nothing away from Boca, they passed the ball and finished well,
D3 did not.
Hard Luck to Dollymount 2nds
They were 3-0 down and got back to 3-2.
A great effort on their part.

RONAN STAR PLAYER

D3 5 v 0 Tymon
Jez 5mins. Alan 8mins. Freeney 17mins. Kinger 82+87mins.
RONAN STAR PLAYER IN GREAT TEAM PERFORMANCE.
With every player putting in near perfect performances, Ronan still stood out as our star player.
He covered every blade of grass. He kept winning the ball back, in every part of the pitch. He'd then just calmly look around and pick out the simple, yet effective pass.
KINGER SCORES 11 IN THE LAST 5 GAMES.
Winning a twenty spot from Jez in the process. Jez seemed to have the money in the bank, with only 15minutes left, Kinger left his midfield role in the capable hands of Ronan and went looking for goals. He got one in the 82 minute to go level with Jez and then had Jez sinking to his knees inthe 89th with a long range shot beating the keeper.
Not even D3's prolific goal scorer, Darren Freeney, could match him, he only scored 10 out of the last 5.

D3 GO TOP,TABLE 3B 12/5/08

DOC'S BIG DAY

Tymon Orient 3 v 5 D.3

Freeney, Ronan, Shane, Kinger(2)

Dave "DOC" O'Connor was a tower of strenght, at the centre of a defence,( Gar, Fionn,Dave OB) who all played great today. Every Ball that was hit high towards D.3 goal seemed end up being headed back up the pitch by the high jumping "DOC". If the Tymon played the ball on the ground "DOC" also made some vital tackles. As did the rest of the defence.

After a shacky start to the match, D.3 let in an easy goal in the first 5mins. But as the game wore on D.3 just got more dominant. So it no surprise that D.3 went in at half 2-1 up, with goals from Freeney & Ronan.
Scoring early in the second half relaxed any nerves. The Work rate by the midfield was phenomenal, with the centre pairing of Ronan & Kinger continually winning the battle in the middle & Also coming up with 3 goals between them. Alan & Shane, the 2 winger, combine skill and hard work to help the defence and cause lots of problems for the Tymon defence.
The foreward line of Jez and Freeney, again putting in the same heavy work load as the rest, didn't give their defence time to settle and made numerous chances.
3 Changes were made with approx. 20 mins remaining, Vinny,Robbie & James N. came on for Fionn,DaveOB & Freeney.
Having had 20 players to choose from and only being able to play 14. The support of those not playing was very much appreciated.

KINGER'S HAT-TRICK

D.3 7 V 0 Adamstown
Jez started the scoring on 5mins by lobbing the keeper. After sustained pressure on the adamstown goal the ball spun free in a crowded box, Freeney was the first to react and coolly finished. (10mins).
On the 20 minute mark, Dave OB from just inside D3 half took a throw in down the line to Shane, who headed it on to Darren, who in turn, playing a 1, 2, flicked the ball with the outside of his right boot to Jez, who returned the ball by flicking it with the outside of his left boot, which cut out 2 of their defenders. Freeney then crossed to the right side of the box where Kinger all alone volley the ball home. 35mins Kinger buries the ball into the top corner, making it 4-0 at H.T.
Adamstown put up a good display at the start of the 2nd half, making hard for D3..It was 20 minutes later before Kinger finally finished them off with another fine goal, to get his HAT-TRICK. 3 subsitutions soon followed, with Vinny, Alan and Mira coming on. Freeney bounced on a mix up between 2 adamstown defenders to slot home passed a helpless keeper(84mins). 2 minutes later, Alan, moving down the right, spotted Shane making a run into the left side on the penalty area. He picked him out with a cross pitch pass, where Shane scored a well deserved goal.

Terenure 3 v 2 D.3

After a very good 1st half, winning 2-0, D.3 made a few bad blunders to throw the game away.On a brighter note Gar scored a header which normally would be good enough to win most games and Darren kept his goal scoring record up ( but he should have had a hat trick). But even better news is the league his still in our own hands.

DARREN FREENEY 21 TODAY.
Darren scored his 21st goal of the season so far, early on in the game with a very clever run and cool finish. D.3 were on top for most of the match. But after greenbay equalised, D.3 found it hard to get back in front but substitutes Mick (Keeper) & Jez linked up to get the lead back. Mick, playing up front, got control of the ball in the box and lobbed the over the defence to the far post where Jez volleyed it into the back of the net. Greenbay got a very late equaliser, where Gar was very unlucky after pushing the breakaway attacker wide to cut down his angle, the greenbay man just kick the ball across the goal mouth. The ball was going wide until it hit a divet and changed direction into the goal, giving James Tracy no chance. This was James's 1st game of the season after a long lay off with a bad knee injury.

VEC 0 V 2 D.3

Title Race Heating Up For Dollymount FC 3rds

Dollymount FC’s 3rds edged closer to the Division 3B Title last night with a comfortable 0-2 away win at VEC in Whitehall. Dollymount FC 3rds now sit 3rd in the table, 1 point off second place and 8 points off top spot with 4 games in hand.

It was a game that Dollymount FC’s 3rds controlled from start to finish and should have run out more comprehensive winners in the end. Shane Fitzpatrick opened the scoring in the first half from a tight angle after good work from a dead ball by Alan McLoughlin. Five minutes after the restart and the match was effectively over as a contest when prolific striker Darren Freeney grabbed his 20th goal of the season with an exquisite lob over the advancing VEC keeper. Dollymount FC 3rds continued to create chances right to the death but in the end we’re happy to settle for the win and more importantly the 3 points.

The title chase is well and truly on.

D.3 trash Wfc15/3/08

WFC 1 v 3 D.3
Dollymount 3Rd's TRASH Wfc. The league leaders.

When D.3 win their matches in hand, they will go top .
D.3 were all over Wfc for the whole of the match.
1st half D.3 playing against the wind & rain made chance after chance. They didn't let Wfc out of their own half. But even with all the ball and good play D.3 only led 1 nil going into the break, it was a 40 yard strike from Dave O'Connor(who has a good shot). D.3 should have been 7 or 8 up at that stage.
After the interval, D.3 carried on pressurising the opposition, looking for more goals. Mid way through the half, Darren Freeney intercepted a wfc freekick just inside the D.3 half and headed for goal. He skipped past 2 defenders before cutting in front of 2 other chasing wfc men, holding off their challenge, then coolly slotting past the advancing keeper. Having said that, he could have scored 4 or 5 easier ones earlier on. Shane Fitzpatrick(who has a great shot) finished off D.3s scoring by beating 3 defenders to a loose ball and giving the wfc superb keeper no chance.
Ronan Daly and Dave O'C.controlled the centre of the park. Alan McLoughlin made so many attacking runs down the right wing, wfc left side won't want to see him again(who would?). Al, also set up a load of chances and had a few chances himself. Shane showed excellent vision when on the ball.
The back four of Vinny, Tobin, Phil and Fion play as a unit, holding the line very well and letting very little through. Anything that got by, was very well handle by Mick, considering the conditions. Gar McLoughlin, Dave O'B and Alessandro Aulisa all slotted very comfortly in to the positions of Jez (who worked his Butt off for the cause),Phil and Fion. Wfc got a consolation goal in the 95 min.
