Title Race Heating Up For Dollymount FC 3rds
Dollymount FC’s 3rds edged closer to the Division 3B Title last night with a comfortable 0-2 away win at VEC in Whitehall. Dollymount FC 3rds now sit 3rd in the table, 1 point off second place and 8 points off top spot with 4 games in hand.
It was a game that Dollymount FC’s 3rds controlled from start to finish and should have run out more comprehensive winners in the end. Shane Fitzpatrick opened the scoring in the first half from a tight angle after good work from a dead ball by Alan McLoughlin. Five minutes after the restart and the match was effectively over as a contest when prolific striker Darren Freeney grabbed his 20th goal of the season with an exquisite lob over the advancing VEC keeper. Dollymount FC 3rds continued to create chances right to the death but in the end we’re happy to settle for the win and more importantly the 3 points.
The title chase is well and truly on.
