Two each for FREENEY & KINGER.
GREAT WIN to beat a battling Rumm
D3 showed great spirit and skill in horrendous weather conditions. With the wind in D3's favour in the first half the players knew they had to be leading at half time and so it was that D3 put continuous pressure on the Rumm goal. D3 have started the league badly and Rumm where 3rd in league but would have not known.
Kingers 1st. goal came from severe in swinging corner from the right into the far top corner with the keeper getting a hand to the ball but unable to stop it. That got D3 on the way, but found it hard to get another which they felt they deserved. Then Freeney to the fore and struck a sweet shot into the bottom right corner. The last kick of the half.
Rumm scored within a minute of kick-off and the pressure on D3 again, but again Freeney popped up at the back post to nod home from close range, after a very good build up which included at least 10 passes back forward and across the field.
The eleven players worked their butts off to get more goals which they should have with some lovely approach work.
Then a couple of slight slip ups and Rumm were right back in it, 3-3.
65 mins Tom came on DOB and went left mid. with Gar going to left full.
D3 did not crumble instead they fought harder for the win and some lovely football. The front line of Baz & Freeney never gave their defence a rest. The midfield made some darting runs, with Al going close a couple of times. Ronan, Tom and Kinger could have also scored. With 8 minutes remaining Kinger came through again to score the winner.
D3 defence, of DOC ,J , Vinny, DOB, andGar who had played with great determination throughout the game, helped from the non-stop running of midfield & forwards, weathered the storm of rain and Rumm to come away with a deserved win.
