BAZ'S HAT TRICK

BAZ'S HAT TRICK SECURES WIN FOR DOLLYMOUNT.
D.3 5 v 0 St Marys

This Barry "Baz" Meehan's first hat trick this season making him the leading goal scorer for D.3 ahead of Darren Freeney & Dave "DOC" O'Connor with 6 apiece.
Early on in the game D.3 where awarded a penalty, which DOC took, wearing his new white "DOC8" boots (see picture below). He struck the ball into the bottom left corner leaving the keeper stranded.
Al's pass split the defence for Baz to run on to and he had the ball in the net with a sublime finish. Dollymount 2 up at half time and in command.
In the second 1/2 half there were chances for both sides. Jez making two excellent saves and a couple of easy ones by his standards. Robbie made a great recovery, clearing of the line and colliding with the post, hurting his knee but played on through the pain barrier.
Baz scored 2 more goals in the second 1/2 half, the best been a through ball from Dave, where Baz pretended to take the ball under control but instead let it run one side on the keeper and he ran the other side, leaving the keeper rooted to the spot.
This was reminiscent of Pele in the 1970 world cup, but where Pele missed, Baz coolly rolled the ball into the empty net.
D.3 fifth goal again involved Barry, again Baz broke through, but this time the keeper got a hand to the ball and pushed up in the air. Alan Mcloughlin backing up play, beat Baz to the ball and nodded home.
The back line of Alex, Jay, Robbie & Prawn and of course Gavin Reinsford in goal, all had an excellent game. Robbie making his new role as centre half look easy and J making some very important challenges. The whole team were excellent, Ronan & Dave bossed the midfield, not allowing St Marys midfield anytime or any of the ball.
The passing and running for each other made the game that much easier to control possession and D.3 definitely had the lion's share with some well timed over lapping runs down the wings from Al, Gav, & Prawn. The Forward duo of Tom & "Player of the match" Baz showed for everything and worked their socks off . Garreth McLoughlin came on for Alex Aulisa and didn't look out of place in a strong well organised Dolly3 team.
We'll be looking forward to another fine, hard working performance like that on Wednesday, when D.3 take on Clontarf, venue St Paul's maybe moving to St Anne's if Clontarf can't open the gate.
