D.3 trash Wfc15/3/08
WFC 1 v 3 D.3
Dollymount 3Rd's TRASH Wfc. The league leaders.
When D.3 win their matches in hand, they will go top .
D.3 were all over Wfc for the whole of the match.
1st half D.3 playing against the wind & rain made chance after chance. They didn't let Wfc out of their own half. But even with all the ball and good play D.3 only led 1 nil going into the break, it was a 40 yard strike from Dave O'Connor(who has a good shot). D.3 should have been 7 or 8 up at that stage.
After the interval, D.3 carried on pressurising the opposition, looking for more goals. Mid way through the half, Darren Freeney intercepted a wfc freekick just inside the D.3 half and headed for goal. He skipped past 2 defenders before cutting in front of 2 other chasing wfc men, holding off their challenge, then coolly slotting past the advancing keeper. Having said that, he could have scored 4 or 5 easier ones earlier on. Shane Fitzpatrick(who has a great shot) finished off D.3s scoring by beating 3 defenders to a loose ball and giving the wfc superb keeper no chance.
Ronan Daly and Dave O'C.controlled the centre of the park. Alan McLoughlin made so many attacking runs down the right wing, wfc left side won't want to see him again(who would?). Al, also set up a load of chances and had a few chances himself. Shane showed excellent vision when on the ball.
The back four of Vinny, Tobin, Phil and Fion play as a unit, holding the line very well and letting very little through. Anything that got by, was very well handle by Mick, considering the conditions. Gar McLoughlin, Dave O'B and Alessandro Aulisa all slotted very comfortly in to the positions of Jez (who worked his Butt off for the cause),Phil and Fion. Wfc got a consolation goal in the 95 min.
